PRODUCT CARE & WARRANTY
What is PVD Plating?
PVD stands for Physical Vapour Deposition, an advanced process that bonds a layer of 18K gold to stainless steel within a vacuum environment. The result is a smooth, durable finish designed for longevity.
PVD coating is significantly more resilient than traditional gold plating. It offers enhanced resistance to moisture, sweat, and everyday wear, making it ideal for pieces designed to be worn often. Many respected luxury watchmakers use this same technology for its strength and lasting colour.
All Articles Atelier pieces are crafted using high-quality stainless steel with either silver, 14K or 18K gold PVD plating.
While all plated jewellery will eventually wear down over time, proper care will help maintain the colour and finish of your pieces for as long as possible.

Our PVD jewellery includes a two-year warranty against manufacturing faults from the date of purchase (with valid proof of purchase).

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Things to Avoid
We know that life happens — busy mornings, long days, spontaneous plans. This is exactly why our pieces are crafted to be water- and sweat-resistant and designed for everyday wear. Although they are made to live and move with you, we recommend removing your jewellery before showering, swimming, exercising, or cleaning. This is to prevent and loss or damage that may be caused by these activities. Exposure to chlorine, salt water, and harsh chemicals may compromise the finish over time.
Avoid applying perfumes, body sprays, tanning products, or moisturisers while wearing your jewellery. These products often contain chemicals that can affect plated surfaces. We recommend allowing skincare and fragrance products to fully absorb before putting on your pieces, so your jewellery can be worn and enjoyed for longer.
Tarnish
Please be aware that tarnish is not necessarily a manufacturing fault and can occur for many reasons and is influenced by the environment of the wearer. Tarnish is caused by many factors including moisturisers, perfumes, tanning lotions and cleaning chemicals. The rate of tarnish can even be influenced by a person's skin acidity.
Cleaning
After wearing, gently wipe your pieces with a clean, dry cloth to restore their shine. Every Articles Atelier order includes a complimentary microfibre cloth suitable for this purpose.
For plated jewellery, avoid polishing cloths, as these can gradually remove the plated layer.
Do not use jewellery cleaning solutions on plated pieces. Cleaning solutions are suitable only for solid metals such as sterling silver or solid gold
Storage
Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
When not being worn, we recommend keeping your pieces in the microfibre pouch provided or in a dedicated jewellery box to minimise exposure to air and moisture.
